The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Central Office (CO) recently achieved 100% compliance with the Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency (EEC) Conservation Measurement and Programs ( DOE).
Republic Act 11285 or CEE Act seeks to institutionalize energy efficiency and conservation, improve the efficient use of energy, and provide incentives for energy efficiency and conservation projects.
During the on-site verification, DOE representatives examined and assessed the lights, air conditioning units, light-emitting diode (LED) lights, and elevator, among other DSWD CO facilities.
They also checked the electricity and energy saving measures as well as the fuel saving measures implemented by the agency.
Meanwhile, the DSWD CO has also been found to comply with the requirements of the Government Energy Management Program (GEMP), a government-wide program aimed at reducing the government’s monthly consumption of electricity and petroleum products. through efficiency and conservation of electricity, as well as efficiency and conservation of fuel. the use of government vehicles, among others.
The program also aims for all government offices to reduce their electricity and fuel consumption by 10%.
DSWD will continue to support the government’s initiative to promote and encourage the use and development of efficient renewable energy systems and technologies to ensure optimum utilization and sustainability of the country’s energy resources.
